RP200024

Description:
The Commodore 1570 is a 5 1/4" single sided floppy disk drive designed for use with the C128 personal computer. It was designed as a stop-gap model when the double sided 1571 drives were in short supply due to part procurement problems.

The 1570 looks like the previous 1541 model with a similar case, but has features of the superior 1571, such as CP/M disk compatibility and faster access speed. It is connected using Commodores propriety serial bus and supports both GCR and MFM disk access. GCR mode has 170K formatted storage and MFM mode up to 200K.

Although the 1570 was backward compatible with the C64, it was not able to take advantage of the performance improvements and performs much like the 1541.
