Description:
The Acorn A5000 was an all new model of the Archimedes family replacing the A440/1 and featured many modernised improvements over previous Archimedes models. Updates included a standard 15-pin VGA display connecor, a standard RS232 serial port, a bi-directional printer port, and an IDE interface instead of the old MFM type for the hard disk. It was also the first Archimedes to have a High Density floppy disk drive as standard, which supported various formats including DOS and Atari formatted disks. Plus it features a more conventional wider case with 4 podule slots placed 2 + 2 each side of each other. It's new ARM3 processor started off at 25MHz, but later models saw a performance increase up to 33MHz.

This exhibit, the ALB22, was one of the original release models which has 2MB memory and an 80GB hard disk.
