Description:
Released in 1994, the RiscPC Series was Acorn's successor to the Archimedes. Still based around Acorn's own ARM architecture and still having RISC OS in ROM, the RiscPC was now more powerful utilizing the new ARMv3 (and later ARMv4) processors, with full VGA graphics, and a memory architecture capable of addressing up to 256MB RAM. As the Intel Pentium PC architecture became more affordable the original ARMv3 based RiscPC 600 and RiscPC 700 were looking a little tired with their 30MHz or 40MHz processors. Acorn responded with the StrongARM processor modules pushing the processing speed to 160MHz and beyond. The StrongARM was available as an upgrade for existing RiscPC600 / RiscPC700 owner's, and were sold as the StrongARM RiscPC range.

This exhibit began life as a RiscPC 600 model ACB65, but has been vastly upgraded to a fully loaded StrongARM model. As well as the 200MHz Strongarm procesor it includes other upgrades like 64MB RAM, DVD-ROM Optical drive, 8.4GB Hard disk, PC 486 second processor, network card, SCSI II interface podule, and a more capable 130W power supply. The only parts remaining of the original RiscPC are the motherboard and case.
